Is it worth going to Valencia during the “Fallas”?

The answer is no. March is the month of “Fallas” in Valencia, a holiday in which fireworks and fire culture extend along the Mediterranean and its towns. This week are the first “mascletás” (show of noise and fireworks that gather rivers of people at noon at The Mayor’s Square).
The streets are lit up, there are bands on the streets at all hours and the city is full of tourists on the weekends.
The “Fallas” have their peak on March 19th, the day in which the “fallero” monuments are burnt. Previously, and throughout the month, the fireworks and the parties on the streets are ongoing.
Conclusion: The show can be entertaining if you come for the first time. In fact, first-time visitors love it. Whoever has seen is before, the common pedestrian, tries to avoid it as much as possible.
The worst: traffic jams, the crowds and stuffed public transportation.
The best: the “mascletás” (infinite fireworks are shot at 2 o’clock in the afternoon in many neighborhoods, but the meeting point is The Mayor’s Square. There’s a gay meeting point on the corner of the film library)
Recommended club all year round: Deseo54. Good electronic music, go-gos and hot guys and girls.
That’s why we’ve prepared a substitute for “Fallas” this month, that will surely take us to another point of the Mediterranean where we can enjoy the holiday will less people.
